Reflexiones

No me interesa saber dónde vives o cuánto dinero tienes.

No me interesa dónde o qué o con quien has estudiado.

 Oriah, mountain dreamer
 (speaking an indigenous elder)

I ´m not interested in what you do for a living, I want to know what moves you and if you dare to dream of meeting the desires of your heart.  I do not want to know what age you have, I want to know if you take a chance to seem a fool for love, for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.  Does not interest me what planets are squaring your Moon.

I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by the betrayals of life or you've closed before the coming pains.  I want to know if you can sit next to your penalty or mine, without trying to hide it, conceal it or accommodate it.  I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or yours. If you can dance wildly and allow the ecstasy you flood to the tip of the fingers, hands and feet, without that we give careful, be realistic, or remember the limitations of being human.

Not interested if the story tell me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be truthful with yourself, if you can bear the accusation of betrayal without betraying your own soul. I want to know if you can be loyal and therefore reliable.  I want to know if you can see beauty even in those days when it seems absent and if you can see, in the presence of God, the source of your life.  I want to know if you can live with failure, yours or mine and still stand at the edge of a Lake, and with a cry of silver, tell him Yes!! to the full moon.

I do not want to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after a night of anguish and despair, hurt and bruised to the bone, and do what you have to do for your life.  I do not care who you are or how you came to here. I want to know if you stop in the middle of the fire with me without foot back.  Does not interest me where or what or who have studied. I want to know what you said from the inside when everything collapses to your around.  I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if really enjoying your own company... in the empty moments.

THIS IS LOVE.

THIS IS LOVE.

A nurse received at the clinic to a man of a certain age who needed that they curasen him a wound in the hand. It had fairly quickly, and while it healed him, the nurse asked what that was so urgent that it had to do. The man told him that his wife had lived for some time in a nursing home since I had a very strong Alzehimer, and every morning he would breakfast with her.   Meanwhile, you bind up the wound, the nurse asked: your wife is much alarm if you arrive late this morning? -No-, replied the man, my wife does not know who I am, five years ago that I no longer recognized. Nurse, somewhat surprised, he said: so why this need to be with her every morning?. The man smiled and told her: she doesn't know who I am, but I still know who she is.

"True love is not limited to physical or romantic; true love is the acceptance of everything the other is, what has been, what will be and what may now never be."

AGING WELL

AGING WELL

I am 67 years old. I'm from Borredà and live in Barcelona. I am head of the Department of internal medicine of the Vall D'hebron University hospital and Professor of medicine at the UAB. I'm married and have two children and four grandchildren. I am a liberal-friendly. I need to believe.

Doctor Vilardell speaks from his 40 years of practice of medicine with relentless vocation. Tomorrow concludes its Presidency of the Col·legi de Metges de Barcelona, after four hard years of management and against measures of health cuts. Still deploying his medical vocation and its teaching and dissemination, work through books such as aging well (platform). Speaks calmly, gives wise advice and quote me the motto of a physician friend, Jordi Gol, about what is to be healthy: "Be independent, cheerful and supportive". I think the wonderful thing is that it does not hurt anything, and that it's kept thus until the end. Vilardell councils help.
At what age do we die? At the age of 82 women, at the age of 79 men. It is to reach that end without relying on others.  Without disturbing. That is being generous! Take care of yourself and prepare for do not disturb others. "Aging well who has lived well", said Pythagoras.  And you live well if you think about others.  What is aging? Go losing capacities, but while you can assert you... age well!  As I get older well.
It is normal aging: vas adapting yourself to gradual loss. The undesirable is the pathological aging!  What is a pathological aging? A premature aging that leads you to the unit.  Is it very frequent? Occurs in 12% of the over 65s: public resource-intensive.  What causes this premature aging? A disease accelerated... or that this person has not well taken care. And this depends on each one, it is perfectly avoidable!  Not so much if I'm poor... It is true that economic power and a good public health system palliated premature aging. But there are many other things you can do!
I hear you. Get exercise. It eats everything, regular hours and sparingly. Avoid being overweight. Sleep seven hours. Do not smoke or intoxiques you. Keep blood pressure between 8 and 12. Keep cholesterol low...  Physiological factors. And psychological: there are circumstances that can age you much, as the death of a loved one, unemployment... any advice regarding this? Try to always keep an active and positive attitude. Smile, laugh. A don't laughed day is a lost day!  Another tip. Cultivate your friendships. Build your own social network. Will you support when you grow. This is critical!  Why?
Because loneliness is the worst Companion: absorbs, sad, depressed, produces cognitive erosion... you ages!  Have friends rejuvenate, maybe? Yes. And also always have a project: studying something, practice a sport... Collaborate in a joint activity.  You age better if you are a charity? Yes, because that leads to inner peace, calms the mind, you feel well closely. It is well to the people in your environment, be nice! A bad face does not solve anything.  Why is Diogenes syndrome given among elderly? They accumulate as if they were thus to live longer. The lesson is that there is only the present: live today! With the lightweight backpack.  With few things? Yes, and in a space simple, airy, bright, cheerful, comfortable. Not refilled.
How do you play love and sex in old age? Love is indispensable: allows you to live more intensely. Matter complicity in the couple, the tenderness, and touching...! Sex can be expressed in a caress, Kiss...  Cite a danger on the lookout for the elderly.  A fall. The old drag toes..., and there is the carpet. Out carpets! And slopes, stairs, bathtubs. Floor-level shower tray.  Why is the fall so dangerous? At these ages, a femur break operation involves risk of hospital, urinary, respiratory, infection fever... and entering the cascade of dependence.  Prevent falls, maybe. Comfortable footwear. When you get up, do it slowly to avoid pressure changes and dizziness. And handles in the bathroom.  Retirement ages? Only if you expect recognition, rewards, visibility: must be eligible for the network of friends. And not feel a hindrance or fall into the "Butler syndrome".  Explained. Don't let nobody make you your efforts: preserving your autonomy! You live in your own space, and estorbarás. And suffer: that ages. As much as you want and you worship... try to take care you.  Some are depressed to see his physical decline. Worry too much external appearance is fruitless: the best is to ensure the Interior, an active and positive spirit.
How you prepare your old age? I'm clearing everything that can get me stressed and wonder: "What I want to do?".
And what answer? Continue to receive patients and help others with my experience.  Summarize how to age well. Take care of their own health, spoils the network of friends, be optimistic, know solidarity, respects the environment people. And leave it all planned for your final: ceremony, burial and Testament. It is selfish to leave that to those who remain. That no one should get stressed out by your cause is the maximum generosity!

Reflections

Has purpose of the post related to the films I chord of a phrase from the movie in which the protagonist, adult, speaks in the third person, referring to the recommendations which would likewise when he was a young boy.

Although I believe that we must repent of what has not become rather than repent over made things, I want to take them to continue this game, with his current experience would you say thinking that they have 20 years. That advice would say, that things would encourage to do.  In those councils there is something I have heard from their parents or grandparents.

After so much time that they still see is you this person of 20 years. In this journey into the past and memories desire leaving more positive than negative. And if there are still outstanding issues do not forget that only their minds it may be too late, I think there is always time and ways to make things happen.

A hug and enjoy your ride.

Reflexiones

Celebrating Life

A few days ago on the occasion of the death of Nelson Mandela was watching news and caught my attention that showed a group of black people dancing. Journalist says that people are not dancing for the death of Mandela but that they were dancing and celebrating his life. For cinema lovers there's a similar quote that appears in the film Brigade 49 (Ladder 49) where almost at the end of the film is at the funeral of a firefighter and the Commander requested everyone to applaud celebrating the life of the deceased firefighter.

Do not leave me attention paradigm about how change is living death. The traditional is to focus on the loss of the beloved person and in a vacuum that usually stop at the closest.  But many of us repair in celebrate life? I was lucky enough to meet a couple of adults older who have embodied this principle even though some of them are no longer alive definitely are people who took the juice to life enjoying it to the fullest. While it is undeniable that they leave a lack it is easy to meet to remember their experiences and "nonsense". Several of them could behave as a very serious person and the next minute be more immature than a 15-year-old boy.

The end of life is just one more step in which we leave a memory that would endure in most beloved people are relatives or friends. Therefore, it is important to not let contact us with those who we care about exit play, going to the cinema, talk to a beer or a coffee. In the end all these activities end up being an excuse to achieve the ultimate goal which is to relate as essentially social people, were not born to be alone.

In several of our cultures probably is not style dance as dancing who held Mandela, but it is important that our way we will be able to take advantage of our years from the beginning until we have to split. While there will be penalty is important to focus on what is really important celebrate life as if we were a child who is experiencing for the first time in the world.

Images of the past

When I was little and my grandparents were already older, I remember certain images and moments that make me think that they had 4 different ways to entertain, and occupy their free time.

One of them enjoyed traveling and visiting people always remember with a suitcase or a bag no more than two meters of it. I think that this way of life took her to be very jovial and cheerful always in contact with people, was seen as a very dynamic person and with a vitality that already had wanted people younger than she.

Another grandmother was more like home, I entertained you see television and miscellaneous programs, I think that I would have enjoyed boom of famous celebrity programs, although I think that physically he was not the best entertainment is undeniable that attentive to the news and announcements allow you to be updated and exercising your memory capacity.

One of my grandfathers was walking as if life were you in fact, enjoying walks and visit free fairs where could find anything on offer, his house was full of articles many of which even today I wonder if they were really necessary or were only there as a symbol of the keen eye of a proud collector of finding atypical things. Here I think that in addition to good condition physical product of walks was vital his soul from collector regardless of the usefulness of some of these objects allowed him to maintain this activity as a goal that took him to mobilize their energy.

My fourth grandfather enjoyed together with their friends, more than ever I pass that walked through the downtown in uniform (was still in College) I came a role of surprise on my face; It was the way they greet me when I was with friends. After this surprising call attention came the corresponding presentation as his grandson to his friends (never less than 5) which greeted me in a way both more effusive than my own friends. Being in contact with the couple playing a game of horns, domino or the classic bingo made them feel very happy and active.

I think I have talked enough about my grandparents? Comment what’s are your hobbits
