Anciano solitario
“No quiero pasar otra Navidad solo”, señala.
Lonely
old man announces asking in 2013 for friend to spend Christmas: Receive offers
from around the world.
An exciting wave of human goodness is taking Ireland by surprise, after an 85-year-old man issued a notice requesting a friend to celebrate this holiday. "I do not want to spend another Christmas alone," he says.
After spending the last 9 years of his life alone, without even receiving a letter on his birthday, the octogenarian James Gray decided to publish a shocking advertisement in the local newspaper The Irish Post.
In the letter, published earlier this month, the elderly Irishman said he is looking for a companion to celebrate the upcoming Christmas Eve. And although initially received a response from a reader, shortly he was disappointed because the woman indicated that he would spend the holiday with another person.
Upset, the man thought that his luck would not change until a small "Christmas miracle" happened: after the newspaper quoted his story through his website people from all over the world began to respond to him in a massive way, telling him that they wanted To accompany him on this date.
"It's
so touching to me, after all these years alone, to see this kind of response
from people ... I appreciate both the offers. I should have
done this years ago, "the man said.
Today, its history has crossed borders and has settled in England and other countries, being replicated by means such as the BBC. Even the Oriflame skin product brand felt touched by its history and sent a gift, as seen in the tweet below.
But Mr. Gray is satisfied with little: far from his recent fame, he only expects to spend a nice Christmas and receive letters from those who have followed his story.

"I did not receive a single letter for my birthday in August, but I had to deal with it," he lamented as he remembered his times of loneliness.
To fulfill their yearnings, The Irish Post is currently collecting some of the hundreds of tweets they receive around this story, then printing them and handing them over to the old man who shocked the UK.
